Week 15 Preview

Week 15 sees plenty of cup action both nationally and domestically. In the Irish Senior Cup C of I make the same trip as last weekend to face Banbridge. A narrow loss last week suggests another close game is on the cards.

In the men’s Irish Hockey Trophy Ashton make the trip to North Down while Limerick host Weston. Both sides have had contrasting fortunes since the Christmas break with Ashton winning two from two while Limerick have come out the wrong end of some close games. Meanwhile in Munster Division 1 UCC will be hoping to bounce back after last minute defeat last weekend as they host runaway league leaders Bandon.

In the women’s Munster Senior Cup Harlequins secured their spot in the semi final with a 3-0 win over Ashton on Thursday night. Catholic Institute host near neighbours Limerick in Rosbrien, C of I and UCC meet in Garryduff while Waterford host Clonakilty. On Sunday Waterford travel to UCC in a back match in the league.

Week 14 Preview

Week 14 and a double away game weekend for C of I in the EY IHL. They first travel to Pembroke Wanderers on Saturday and then head further North to Banbridge. 6 points is a big ask but if it were to happen it would put them top of the table on their own.

In Men’s Division 1 Limerick were unlucky to come away with nothing from Ashton last week and will be hoping home comforts and the fact that C of I firsts are playing will give then the edge over their seconds. The Senior Cup first round also tips off. Ashton travel to UCC and Harlequins host Bandon.

In Women’s Division 1 C of I will be looking to bounce back after defeat in the IHT last weekend with their trip to Ashton. Ashton themselves will be looking to turn things around after a heavy defeat to UCC. Institute and Bandon meet in a game that has gone both ways in recent times. Indeed the last time the sides met in Bandon they knocked Institute out of the IHT on their way to the final. Institute are however unbeaten this year and will be hoping to keep pace with UCC and C of I. In the last game Clonakilty will be hoping to move above Ashton while Limerick will be hoping to lift themselves off the bottom of the league.

Week 13 Preview

The week after the Christmas break can often catch teams on the hop and C of I will be hoping to do that when Monkstown visit on Saturday afternoon. C of I currently sit 4th in the table and a win would take them level on points with the Dubliners.

In the IHT Bandon men and C of I women face trips North to face Queens and Raphoe respectively. Bandon currently lead the Munster league comfortably and C of I ladies were 1 point clear going into the break.

Domestically in Men’s Division 1 its all very close between the bottom 4. Ashton host Limerick while C of I B travel across the city to UCC.

In Women’s Division 1 UCC host Ashton hoping to leapfrog C of I at the top of the table while Bandon will be hoping to close the gap to the top 3 when they host Waterford.
