At Munster Hockey, we are proud to support Hockey Ireland’s “Total Respect” campaign through our own Respect Campaign, which promotes positive behaviour, fair play, and inclusive environments across all levels of the sport. By working together, these initiatives aim to create a culture where respect is not optional — it is expected in every interaction, both on and off the field.
Key Focus Areas
Respect for Umpires: Umpires are fundamental to the game of hockey. Their presence, judgment, and commitment make every match possible. These campaigns underscore the importance of respecting officials, recognizing their dedication, and remembering that they are human. Without umpires, the game simply cannot be played.
Young Players: Teaching respect, fair play, and adherence to codes of conduct from a young age is crucial for the long-term health of the sport.
Clubs, Schools & Parents: Munster Hockey provides resources, including signage and guidance, to support respectful behaviour pitch-side. Parents and supporters are encouraged to model positive conduct off the pitch, reinforcing a safe and encouraging environment.
Community & Culture: Together, Munster Hockey and Hockey Ireland highlight that respect is a shared responsibility. By fostering respectful behaviour across clubs, schools, and matches, we strengthen the hockey community and ensure it remains welcoming for everyone.
