Boys and Girls League Postponement Rules
All applications for postponements must be made in writing using the official Youths Postponement form (click link to download) which shall be sent to the relevant Youths Registrar.
All applications for a postponement must be made at least 7 days before the scheduled date, and forwarded to the Registrar who shall decide whether to grant the postponement or not.
Applications for postponements are valid only if both clubs have specified an agreed date on which to play the fixture. No application may normally be made unless this agreement is recorded in the application. Clubs have to agree a date that is within 6 weeks of the original fixture date, subject to a deadline of 30th April. If clubs fail to agree a date, the Youths Committee will set it.
Once a decision is made on a postponement application, the Registrar shall notify the Underage Youths contact of both clubs involved in the application.
If the club seeking the postponement does not secure the agreement of the opposition club, the game shall normally go ahead as scheduled. If the game does not go ahead, the Youths Committee will normally award the points against the team that sought the postponement.
The Registrar must rule within 48 hours of application.
The Registrar shall not grant postponements if applications are not made 7 days prior to the date on which the fixture has been arranged, save in circumstances that are exceptional in the opinion of the Youths Registrar. In these cases, rearrangements may be sought.
Where a match otherwise is not played immediate notification must be given to the Registrar. The two clubs shall attempt to find a mutually agreed date to play the fixture, that is within 6 weeks of the original fixture date, subject to a deadline of 30th April, and shall notify the Registrar of that date within ten days of the postponed fixture. Where the two clubs fail to provide a suitable, mutually agreed date, the Youths Committee shall decide on the new date for the fixture.
Where a team does not play its scheduled match on the given week-end, without prior official postponement or agreement to rearrange the match with their opposition, they shall be deemed to have forfeited the match.
The sanctions against a team forfeiting a match are as follows:
a) The opposition is awarded a win in the match.
b) For league matches they shall be deducted one extra point for each offence in the season.
c) In a cup match, the team will be unable to take part in any further part of the cup competition, e.g. a plate or runners up cup & fined €100
d) If a club (any senior or underage) has more than one offence in a season, a fine of €50 will be issued to the club for each additional offence.
Clubs (including Underage Teams) that forfeit more than three matches in a season shall be deemed to have brought the game into disrepute, and the matter reported to the MBHI Board who shall deal with the matter in accordance with the MBHI Disciplinary Procedures and Regulations document.
